Receiver & Int. tube amp sharing same speakers / how to hookup?

I have a NAD T773 receiver & a Jolida 502B int tube amp. I want to use the same pair of speakers for both HT & 2 channel music. I want the Jolida to stand alone & not to be incorporated w/ the NAD. How do I do the hookup? My thoughts would be to run a set of speaker cables from the Jolida to the speakers along w/ a pair of speaker cables from the NAD. For HT only the NAD would be on & for 2 channel only the Jolida would be on. Can I hook it up that way or is there a better way. When one unit is on at a time is there a signal still going through the speaker cables to the other unused unit? Is this a potential problem? Your info on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I just don't want to ruin any gear. Thanks!!

Not sure where to buy it but there is such a device called a speaker/amp selector switch that you can get to overcome the exact problem that you have. I was once looking for it for a previous setup. Basically you just connect your amp, receiver and speakers to it and you can select which device you want to use to power your speakers.

I have a similar issue, I use a Parasound 5-channel amp for my HT, but a Bedini 50/50DE for 2-channel; I simply use banana plugs at the end of each run of speaker cable that goes from my amps to my [B&W] speakers (Monster Powerline 2 for HT – Kimber 8TC for 2-channel). When I want to listen to music, I plug in the Kimber from the Bedini, HT, the Powerline 2 from the Parasound. It is a little cumbersome, but gets the job done.

I would just leave it in-line all the time. Run the CD to it directly for music listening and run the preamp outs from the receiver to it on a different input. The only possible drawback to that is, it will be on all the time when you are using the system if you are looking to not use it for HT.

DO NOT hook both power amps to the speakers at the same time. It will only take one time of leaving them both on to cause damage.

While that will work, I think it is a bit overkill for the intended use. He only has one set of speakers and needs to switch sources only.
So, you missing the point about the amps. There are very few units that more than one amp input, the Jamo JSS4 being one of them. Yeah, he only has one pair of speakers, but this unit will handle two amps. Plus, it has 5-way speaker terminals, not some spring clip like the Monster crap in P@rt$ Expre$$.

?? I don't see where I missed the point...

I have USED the one from parts express and they have one that also has the abitlity to switch sources among all the speakers. They make their own stuff; Monster has nothing to do with their impedance matching switches. The only difference between binding posts and compression type connector (which is standard on gear like this, spring clips are not) is that you can use a larger AWG wire with the binding posts - definitely not an issue here.

I think you're missing the point that he doesn't need another component who's functionality will go largely unused just to switch sources going to the tube amp? If that were the case, I'd rahter just swap speaker cables and save $100-200.
