Receiver help requested

I have the following components and seriously need help selecting the proper receiver for my home surround system:

LP 47LC7DF TV, Sony BDP-BX1 Blu-Ray, BIC DV736 front speakers, BIC DV62CLRS center speaker, BIC DV53CLR surrounds and a BIC D1210R sub. I'll be adding 2 more speakers in the rear, but have not yet selected them.

I'm leaning towards a Pioneer VSX01TXH, but I'm really getting lost the more I search! I'd like to keep the cost below $700 if at all possible. Any advice please?? Thanks!

You obviously want something with HDMI inputs for the BD player. It would be good if it could decode all the current codecs. Beyond that, do you have a big room that you need a lot of power to fill? For a small room, any powered receiver would probably be fine. I would also consider future expansion.

In your situation I'd look for features and usability plus appropriate power. If the Pioneer meets all those criteria, you should do fine.

The room is medium-sized, but I'm really not one to turn the power up. I'm looking for nice, crisp sound and useful functionality, not tons of 'features' that really don't add to the experience. I also tend to hang onto equipment for quite a while, so getting something that can be upgraded is a real consideration. Does it sound like the Pioneer VSX01TXH is worth considering?

It seems to have plenty of power and a reasonable feature set. If you are sure you won't need more than 3 HDMI inputs, then it should be as future proof as it can be. I'd say it's a reasonable choice based on the specs but I haven't read any reviews of it.
