I am not up to date on the latest bi-wiring/amping theories. Just made sense to me to have 2 sets of wires powering all the speakers on my mains. I have never ran my speakers any other way.

Will try to get some pictures for you guys this weekend to show my current setup. And hopefully some new pictures with new AVR. Still on the fence about a pair or 2 pair of ceiling speakers. Cost is deterring me from purchasing two sets since I will be spending more on the AVR than I was planning.

Ant recommendations for economical ceiling speakers?

Are you using just bi-wire cables? Or using the avr's passive bi-amp feature? Either way they don't do anything/much.

According to the manual "All of the Silver RS Series loudspeakers (except the RS FX, see page 9) can be either single or bi-wired/bi-amp. Monitor Audio always recommends bi-wiring your loudspeakers for improved sound quality." Hence why I have it hooked up this way.

Never knew there were biwire cables. I just ran a set of wires to each post set, HF & LF.

Marketing mostly. Good speaker designs don't "need" it, but many speaker companies simply provide the terminals cuz everyone else does.....

Bi-wiring cables are one terminal at the amp end, but dual at the other.....the passive bi-amping thing uses separate terminals on the amp. More a waste of wire than anything, but whatever floats your boat! :) I suggest you read the AH article I linked....it's not really theory, but explains how they function....

Yup it’s snake oil. Why do amp makers keep the lies going?? & so called audio experts keep the lie around for views and money .

if you’re set on keeping a 5 channel setup and want to improve it, why not find a badass used 5.1 processor? Then You could find an older midrange 5 channel power amp and you’d be golden.
