Receiver for TV in Family room

Hi: I am trying to choose a receiver for my TV in Family room. I don't intend to hook the receiver to 5 or 7 speaker, but just use the sound from the TV (10W + 10W + 15W (Subwoofer)). In the future maybe I might use a soundbar kind of speaker underneath the TV. I am looking for something that has atleast 5-6 HDMI inputs, 1 coax for OTA HDTV and a HDMI output to connect to the TV. Something in $150-400 range. Can anyone provide some suggestions.

The whole point of a soundbar is that you don't need that many connections; a simple digital out from the TV should do the trick. I like Zvox products; they are an internet direct company. Their top of the line 575 HSD would do what you want nicely. The TV has all the HDMI inputs and so this makes for a really straightforward set-up (a simple digital out to the Zvox). http://www.zvoxaudio.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=4005752 There are plenty of very positive reviews online. I've used the Zvox 325 pretty extensively and the sound quality (for music and movies) is very good. The thing to consider is why not wait on the receiver until you are ready to use it. Buy it now, and you miss out on technology later when you are ready. If you have a newer TV you should have tons of inputs. If you have an older TV, you might not have the digital optical output to send to a soundbar...

Hi: I have a newer TV with 3 HDMI inputs. But I have just one HDMI cable running from the shelf on floor to the place where TV is mounted (installed by builder inside the wall). I don't want to hook up all devices directly to the TV as I will have to run multiple longer HDMI cables from the shelf below and have more wires seen outside.

Right; you use the TV for all your hdmi inputs and then output the sound to the zvox either via rca or a digital input. It's dead simple, works well, and sounds very good.
