receiver for Anthony Gallo Micro (nucleus) speakers

Hi I am trying to buy a sound system for a room that only my wife uses - usually to get ready and dress up and stuff. She hates all big speakers. that's why I thought of the Gallo Nucleus speakers - she likes the design. From the reviews I've read they seem good.
OK this is a small room (15x13 feet) not even a bedroom so I donot want to spend that much money on it. My wife also cares more about the look than the quality but i think all of us appreciate a good quality sound when we hear it whether the person is an audiophile or not. I am planning on having only two speakers. What's a good reciever(used would be OK too) to use with these speakers - hopefully for around $200?
What should I use for a player(would be great to have AM/FM in it)? - she mainly has CDs. It would be nice if I can have a way of playing MP3 on it also in the future.
Alternatively I thought of just getting a micro Bookshelf system. I looked at the Onkyo CS-V720 or cs315 vs. Denon D-M37S vs Philips Executive 30-Watt Micro Speaker

THanks for any advie you can give me.

I guess what I am asking are there universal players that also have FM? Alternatively can I hook use the Gallo nucleus speakers instead of the speakers that come with the Onkyo cs315? Would that be a good idea or are the speakers that come with it good enough? would the onkyo cs315 make use of the gallo speakers potential? Sorry if any or all of these questions seem stupid I am very much of a beginner at this.

Thanks again:eek:

I would also look at Orbs. Remember either of these are going to have to be used with a sub, they are not full range speakers.

You could look at refurb Onkyos for the AVR, just use a simple RCA cable and run an IPOD through it. A better choice would be to run it off zone 2 or 3 from your main AVR.

A Micro system might be the best choice in this situation.

Since you already have the speakers I suggest a simple 2-channel receiver.

You can't drive other speakers with micro setup's usually. Although the Onkyo might be able too.

I wish I can do it off a zone 2 but the room is on the opposite end of the house and the ceilings are quite high which creates alot of problems and cosmetic issues and considerable increase in expenses of the installation.:(

Thanks for the suggestion of the orbs - they look great - which one is better as far as quality of sound the orbs or the Gallo nucleus speakers?

OK I know I sound really clueless with this one but what can play CDs and have FM radio? Does recievers have FM radio? Or will I have to buy a separate radio and a CD player?

Thanks again

I am not sure which is better, I have heard people say they were impressed with the ORBS. I was going to try some in my bedroom but I went with inceilings instead.

Yes, recievers have AM and FM tuners.

Thanks Paradigmdawg, What do you guys think of Onkyo TX-8255 Stereo Receiver? It is 2 channel and I can find it for $200.
I would put it on top of a shelf so it would be out of sight and I would use my current DVD player which is a sony dvp-ns70H, move it to that room and use it only as a cd player. would this give me a good quality sound when coupled with the orbs? My wife mainly listens to soft rock and stuff like celine Dion:)

That would be fine for what you are doing.

I've heard both. If we're comparing one sphere to one orb, I'd say the Gallo is a hair better. However, for the same price as a single Gallo sphere, you can get a Mod 2 Orb which is better in every way. Aesthetics also play a role as both companies offer different finishes.

Is there any way I can have this receiver or if you have any other recommendation for receiver at a similar price play 2 zones? I was thinking of putting an inceiling speaker in the guest bathroom close to this room. The other possibility if there is a way of having music in both the room and bathroom at the same time - any advice for one or the other?

Thanks again guys
