I got a new Marantz 7005. We had 3-4 power cuts when the receiver was on & playing (playing through USB - pen drive). Today when I switched the receiver on after the power cut, the display used to come on for a few seconds and go off before I play anything. The receiver used to be on though. I switched it off then turned it on a few times and it continued to behave same way. I reset the microprocessor then it got fixed. (2 displays in 7005 - both went off. I didn't notice if the blue ring round one display was on or not)
Why did this happen & wat's the issue here? Should I be worried with these power cuts? Would it cause any kind of problems?
I do use an APC-1200 KVA voltage stabilizer.
The issue is weather. You are lucky you still have a functioning receiver.
We go over this again and again.
A voltage regulator without battery backup is pretty much useless.
There is no absolutely bullet proof solution.
However whole house surge protection and a smart UPS will likely prevent 99% of events.
You need a UPS that will transfer to battery in 1 to 5 msec when voltage goes up or down in a narrow specifies range, and will keep powered from the battery until the instability is over. In prolonged events or power loss, it will power your system down gently.
I'm tired of these posts, and even more tired of people saying this is overkill. It is not, it is what you absolutely need to do to protect your equipment, in these days or more frequent and severe weather events.
Because of complexity, equipment is much more vulnerable. This means you need to do it right.
My systems save my gear again and again and again.
