I have also tested how hot i'm running. It was 34 - 40 degress celcius. Ambient temperature in the room is about 25. Outside now is about -5.

I tested this because i had covered the amp to prevent dust from gathering in the AVR.

I have to say that I was surprised that it was not running hotter. :D

Anybody know where i can get a fan(s) to keep the AVR-745 cool? i would prefer just to plug them into the 120V switched outlet on the back. Is there anyway else i can wire up a fan without having to use a converter all that expensive stuff? I dont want a lot of noise, but a little is alright considering i have an open room that has a computer running all the time and other stuff like that. Any suggestions please?
Unless you are blocking the vents, or otherwise using it in a manner that the manual warns against, the only way you will need a fan is if the thing is incompetently designed. Do you seriously believe that the makers of your receiver do not know how much heat it generates? If it needed a fan, they would have put one in it, unless they are total morons. And if they are total morons, you should avoid buying from them, because they are pretty sure to make other mistakes, if they make such an obvious mistake as that.

You covered the vents? Read your manual; if dust were more important to the design than heat, they would not have put the vents in the case at all. NEVER cover the vents while using it.

I have an HK AVR 7000 and I have run it long and hard for for 9 years straight, powering a pair of 4 ohm , (87 dB) Quart QLS 1030's It definitley runs hot if I am throwing a party and it is cranking. I have no issues and you speakers are much easier to drive. Don't waste your time.
