Ok so I'm about to buy a receiver again after selling my old Yamaha RX-V2700 a few months ago and Im looking for recommendations. I have a few that have caught my eye and they are the Denon AVR-3313CI, Pioneer SC-71, Sony STR-DA5700ES, Onkyo TX-NR828. Id like some of your opinions on these or If you have a better alternative let me know.

Hi. In regards to alternatives, it would help to know what you're looking for in a receiver. Why did those models catch your eye?

If it were me, I'd get the Pioneer - with one major reason being that I prefer MCACC over Audyssey, mostly because I like being able to store more than one configuration (I have two seating locations that are distinctly different in their location relative to my speakers). If you only have one area that you sit, then that's not a consideration.

The Price to features is whats driving me basically the best bang for the buck. I'm Looking for a good network 7.2 receiver under 900.00. I kept my front Polk RTI12 front speakers but will be purchasing new surrounds and as of now I'm not sure which ones.

One note - a number of 7.2 receivers run the same signal to the subs, so you can accomplish the same thing using a y-splitter on a single sub output. I only mention that so that you don't hold yourself back on another receiver that you might like expect for a single sub output.

I've recently had the opportunity to audition the Onkyo TX-NR626, Denon AVR-E400, and Marantz NR1604 7.1/7.2 receivers. Out of all of them, I'd pick the Onkyo for the features versus price. Those are lower priced models than you mentioned, so there might be features that you want that aren't in those.

A great deal would be the Marantz 6007 which is 799 now (1199 reg) at Crutchfield. You get plenty of power and Audyssey + with Crutchfield you get free shipping no taxes and a 60 day in home trial, hard to beat.

In the higher price range {$1000 and under} there are a ton of choices for AVR's check out accessories4less, they have some really gigh end marantz, denons, and yamahas in your price range with msrps over $2400, you can get A LOT of receiver for $800... They are refurbs, but I have bought a few from them and know a lot of people that have bought receivers from them and everyone is happy with them.... Most of the time they are just left overs and demo's, I have never seen one with a scratch on it or any appearance of previous use...

BTW Moody, a4l has the 6007 for $599...

Based on my experience with Audyssey Dynamic EQ/Sub EQ, I would get an AVR with this feature (like Audyssey XT32).

So on that list, I would go for the Denon 3313 (Audyssey XT). Also call Electronics Expo and see if they can give you a great deal on a Denon X4000 (Audyssey XT32). They might have a special or demo unit. :D
