I am new to home audio (obviously). I am about to upgrade to a new LCD tv and will need a new receiver that has HDMI inputs. I am currently running a low-end sony STR-DE595, 2 (older) Infinity Kappa 8 Tower Speakers, pioneer center channel, and a 10" Yamaha powered sub. My old Rear speakers have since been blown and I wish to upgrade to new bookshelf speakers after I get my receiver issue resolved. However, my main issue is what would you recommend as far as receiver and possibly amp for my surrounds sound/Kappa 8's. I have a budget of less than $1000 for receiver/amp setup. I was leaning towards possibly Onkyo for the receiver because I have heard nothing but good things. Do I really need an receiver with pre-outs and an external amplifier?What would you recommend??? any help is appreciated because right now I am clueless. Brands and models would also be very helpful.
