I have always used my rec/amp as a video switcher, as I thought many do. User friendly for wife and kids a big plus.
But now that I am reading about setting tvs to different color - brightness - etc. levels depending on the source, this does not work when all sources are fed through rec and then to one hdmi input.
I could send zone 2 or 3 video to the same tv via hdmi2 for games/comp to set the tv for this type of input.
As far as I know hdmi 2.0a and 2.2 handshake are the future for 4k and DTS-X/Atmos are only available on new models. This is why I wanted new rec model. May not apply if video goes to tv straight?
My hdmi sources are or will be : apple tv, amazon firestick, 4k blue ray player, 2 200 dvd players, cable box, and a ps3. I have had two use an hdmi switcher for a few of these since my old Den-3808 only had 4 inputs.
I would have to get programmable remote for wife to figure this out, if video went to tv and audio to rec.
Don't most people use rec for switching video and sound sources? I am thinking only games and computer would require different settings than the other video sources on tv, true?.
