Rear Speaking Placement Help

Hey guys. I need your opinions and suggestions with what I want to do. Right now I'm running a 5.1 system:
Polk TSi500's
Polk CS20
In-Ceiling Infinity CS60r's
Have never been to excited about how the In-Ceilings have been, but I thought for a long while I didnt have a choice with how my theater room is laid out. Went back to the drawing board recently to try and figure out how I could possible make it work with real surrounds, I think I may have figured it out. I really would like to get a pair of FXiA6's, but I don't know if my placement would be worth the price to buy them. I drew up a crude picture layout of my HT room; the A6's would be to the left and right of the seating position, about 9ft to the center point. The in-ceilings are set behind the couch line in a 9ft ceiling. Would this placement work? Do you think I'll get better "surround sound" then I am now with the in-ceilings? I would love to be able to do a 7.1 setup if possible, but would having the in-ceilings ruin the experience? Should I potentially just stay with a 5.1 and not have them hooked up at all?
Ideas? Suggestions? Comments? I'd love to hear it all

I think your A6 potential placement is superior to your ceiling speakers. With your furniture placement and garage door, what you propose looks like as good as it gets. I would make the A6s the surrounds, (like a 5.1 system), and use the ceiling speakers for rear surrounds in a 7.1 system. There's not much in those rear surround channels anyway.

What herb said, except that I’d just ditch the ceiling speakers all together, at least in that location. They are supposed to be some distance behind the seating for 7.1 anyway; some rooms just can’t accommodate that. As for the back side speakers, I’d get them at least 6 ft. up on the wall, if possible.

Hmm ok. So if anything the ceilings would be the 6 and 7 in a 7.1. Ya the speakers would be about 6 ft, give or take a few inches. Wondering if i upgrade the in ceiling speakers if itll help. Especially for future with atmos and dts:x

Going by your picture...
I would move the left recliner back about 2 millimeters or so, then in about half a millimeter...

You should be good to go after that...
