I think I need to slow down & rethink my strategy.
I purchased the HSU bookshelfs for front & rears which are 15" tall, same clearance from the top of my door to the ceiling...
Needless to say, no room to angle them down, only choice for me is to return them & go with the Ascend 170's 12" tall or drill into the HSU cabinet & slap a omni20 on the back & place it in the left corner sideways & have the right rear vertical upright position. What would you guys do, open to any suggestions.

i would turn em on their sides, mount em up there, and call it good.

but. what is futher forward of your X's ? just out of the pic on each side.

Youre getting at that its more ideal to mount on the sides vs. to the rear???
My thoughts are to the rear looks more out of they way & into the corners & in the middle of the wall will stand-out quite a bit...
Does it really make that much of a difference for just rears?

I was gonna say the same thing.. just mount them sideways.

it depends on how picky you are. the sides would sound better. but if you aim them right and turn up the volume up a little, it probably wouldn't make a lot of difference.

what i did = i mounter mine on 2 8' 2x4's. then moved them around the room. i found that the sides where best, to me.

Well I was able to use the btech 77 mount regardless of the situation. Did place 1 screw into the cabinet for extra security but I had to! I mounted it sideways, rotated the tweeter.

I didn't think the B-Tech mount would work for that - good for you.

It's a bit hard to tell from the picture, but it still looks to me that your speaker positions are more suited for the rear speakers of a 7 channel system, and the sides should be closer to 90-110 degrees from your listening position - on the side walls.
