Really though, I am just proud of the floor...

Nice floor. What made you decide to lay it on a diagonal?

I like it.

Thank you. Honestly, I think it looks better... slightly more difficult to lay down but I've put down a good amount (maybe 20k sq ft or so...) so it wasn't too bad. I'm not a professional flooring installer ...haha... I just get into it and try to save us money.

'No Transitions' is the tricky part.

My first 45degree or diagonal lay was at a townhouse we have rented, I did a step by step here:

I think you are right. Laying it on a diagonal really makes hallways with multiple doors much easier. Trying to get a piece to lock together with several consecutive door ways is a pain when laid on the vertical. And, like you said, it is even more difficult if you are not using transitions between rooms.

Nice job!

Hey thanks wescott...

I guess just coming up with more inventive ways of laying it is the key right now. I have another couple spots in the house, both only about 300-400 sq ft and I'm trying to come up with a light & dark pattern of mixing woods but I haven't put my eyes on anything that speaks to me. And on something like that, I don't want to experiment on my house.

On the HT front... a friend of mine and I just got done watching 'The Strangers' HD and put the system through the paces. I normally can't crank the piss out of it while the wife is watching, because she doesn't like the bass. Sounded great, especially when they were trying to break into the house to kill Liv Tyler and they were banging on different doors & windows. Sweet!

In any case, thanks again.
