It is the little straight one the doctor said. Partial tear, but since I am functional and managing pain fine, that surgery is optional and is up to me. Because that was the assessment, they did not do the MRI, that is now scheduled for June 17 tentatively. I can decide by Monday whether or not to have the sugery.
Good luck J. Hope you meant drive, and type. Not drive and type.

Hmmm ... that comma is troubling.

The surgery is trouble though. Freakin mattresses are heavy. The last time I moved one my girl and her niece were on the other end which was catching on a doorway so I twisted my end hard to make their side turn past the obstruction. Well the other end of the mattress clocked my niece in the head messing up her neck.

Every time either of them go to help me they get hurt. I think the mattress incident was the last time I accepted any help from either of them.

Good luck healing up without getting cut open.

The knob on my coffee table is loose.

I bought this for 40 bucks at a flea market. It had an ugly brown stain finish. I had sand paper, polyurethane and a friend with an HVLP spray rig.

I hand tightened the knob. Looking forward to the next 20 years.

I just plugged into watching the new Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire. They mentioned that it was 49 years ago that the first interview was done.

49 years ... F¥€% me but that's a long, long time. I wonder how many years are left and I'm scared that they will go too quickly. I feel like it's practically over. May as well take me now. I'm ready.

Make it quick.

My apologies. I posted that with my phone and it crops the pic so I didn't know ... good thing nothing else was poking out into the picture frame.

My socks, you don't want to know about my socks ... :D

Or do you?

Hooked up much of the system this weekend. No audio or video out of my Marantz Pre. I did a factory reset, still zilch. It fires up and it triggers the amp that is connected. I can go through all the menus and settings on its screen, but no sound even via analog and no video, including the setup menu. I am going to swap out the HDMI cable just to see if that makes any difference, but I am feeling like something is damaged from the move.

Oh crap. I would think it would have needed to take a good hit for it to break. Did you do the move or hire a firm? Did you shake it to see if there is anything loose?

It does not sound like it, nor does it appear to have any damage. It was packed by me in the original box, but moved by movers. All other gear seems to be OK, including the TV. I have not unpacked the sub yet, the only other item I am really concerned about.

Found my warranty info too, 4 years. It expired July 2025.

I see an 8805A for $2500 on Amazon new or the AV30 for $4k. Both meet my needs. Just spent a LOT on the couch and wasn't expecting to drop another $4k right away.

That's my nightmare scenario right there. I always have trouble getting new gear up and running so the whole time I'm sweating shipping damage.

Is there a repair center option for your pre or any shipping insurance you can lean on?

By chance, in the packing process, a switch was moved to mute or something similar? No reason that it would be silent like that.

Yeah, always something like that. I figured it out. Factory reset again, disconnected and reconnected things, still no sound. Ran test tones, those worked. I was poking through the menus on the Pre screen, and found it. No idea why, but one setting was set to something other than "auto" for inputs or outputs, and that one setting caused it not to work. All good now.

Would have figured that out yesterday except it took about 4.5hrs to put the couch together. They mentioned you have to DIY, but they obviously don't tell you how much work that is. It is straightforward and fairly easy, but not exactly quick. Video not too exciting either lol.

Glad you figured it out. That would have been a lot of coin to have to piss away, if you had to replace it.

You should buy yourself some audio gear with all the money you just saved. :)

EDIT: My car radio crapped out. I thought it was the amp so I bought an amp from Parts Express. Once I started trouble shooting the amp I realized that not only were the rear channels blown but the rear signal wasn't working making me look toward the head unit which means taking the radio out of the dash to check the connections. That's a Youtube problem. God, I don't want to take my dash apart. The car is is small, I'm big, it's hot and my pussy hurts. F^%&, I don't want to do this. What's it they say? Wha, wha , wha or waa, waa, waa ... yeah, whatever. F^%&.

More f^%&. F^%&. A few sh!ts too.

I'd probably feel better about this if I could still smoke weed. You know, a few puffs. Watch a video. A few more puffs and a trip to the boat house to work on the car (that's what we call the out building I use as a shop) ... maybe another puff or two and then dashboard disassembly. But just going out there with a clear head? Who would do that? That's obscene!

it took about 4.5hrs to put the couch together.
Lovesac? Dude, I don't have the time to give that name its due. Videos to watch and dashboards to disassemble. I'm glad I peeked at the video though. Thinking about Lovesac is somehow going to make my dilemma better. Good choice though. :D OMG, that's too good. The whole family will enjoy sitting on your Lovesac. Thank you for that! :)

EDIT: Were you thinking of me when you bought it? :D

I'm f^%&ing dying over here. :D
