Work views, we have had the least amount of snow pack in recorded Colorado history this winter.

I LOVE IT
OMG Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo has the same number of gold medals as ... Switzerland

But actually, the win that possibly made me most happy was Mikaela Shiffrin taking the slalom gold
she´s got pretty close ties to Norway too through Aleks Kilde...

Sit tight. The storms that are passing us should help fix that… the Sierras were super-low on snow… now there are highway closures and a lethal avalanche.
We got a whole lot of nothing, well we did get a bunch of wind but that was it. We had a bad wreck just south of here last week on I-25 due to brown out conditions.

A friend who is a park ranger from Idaho was in town and she was saying their weather has been pleasant, meaning not how it would normally be in Dec-Jan-Feb. Unseasonably warm and very low snow pack too.

Nod to the mods for keeping house. The place has been crawling with spam.

I know why people were so trim in the 50s. Nicotine! Effing everyone smoked! 4/5 doctors said Marlboro Reds were the sh!t and other facts I just made up.

I'm almost CoViD fat. It's the craziest thing. A few cigars/day and they had me on a weight loss watch. A year later since giving them up and now I need Weight Watchers again.

It's gonna have to wait until tomorrow because I just bought a ribeye roast for $68 and a bunch of really good Italian bread from like the go-to Pasquale mini mart/butcher shop in the state (Shores Market).

But tomorrow ... it's back to watching the gram count on carbs, protein and fat. I know how. Done did it before. Don't wanna croak etc, etc, etc.

... but I'm not happy about it. Still, I won't be D-E-A-D dead. Sh!t, mierd, kaka ... f^%&!

Amazon AWS Cloud services crashing now due to Iranian drone attacks

https://www.wired.me/.../when-iranian-drones-hit-the...

"AWS uses multiple “availability zones” in each region. They are physically separate groups of data centres that are connected through high-speed links. If one zone goes down, applications can continue to run through the other zones.

In the UAE, two out of three availability zones were hit – a rare situation. Since so many services rely on these shared cloud systems, a disruption like this ripples out, affecting everything from banking apps to government portals.

For major areas like that, there are usually three and one or two are not in the same physical region to prevent 100% outages. If two go down, they will likely replicate to an additional region so they still have 2 as a preventative measure. They aren't going to disclose those details obviously, to prevent the ability to go after the rest.

Wow, I was pretty happy with the Buds 3 Pro. The 3 Pros had decent but not great ANC. The 4 Pros are more comfortable, definitely better sound quality and have noticeably better ANC so far. We will see tomorrow when I am in the office and people are taking meetings in the area lol.

Only one beef with most buds: how come none of them include a locking case by default? The Buds 3 Pro at least gave a free bonus add-on and I got the locking case, which was a plus. If you have ever accidentally dropped the case and the buds came out or clipped them to a belt loop, you know why. Nothing keeps the lid closed. Nobody offers one for my work buds either, the Jabra Evolve2.

The third region would most likely be a disaster recovery region with way lower capacity, that is what we have in Norway.... that´s is maybe gonna create serious havoc, because you may not have the capacity to serve full scale services ... I heard about serious issues with bank services because of these things

What Americans have asked in Norway

What time do the fjords open?

Do they drain the fjords in winter?

When do they flick on the Northern Lights?

Why don´t you just suck up all the snow and remove it?

Eating "fiskeboller": Do you eat the whole fish or just the balls?

Eating whale steak: Are the whales farm grown?

In central Oslo: Where are the fjords?

Asking a Norwegian: Do you actually live here?

Asking a Norwegian: What do you do in winter?

On a boat crossing a fjord: How high are we above sea level?

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Yep, but it is better to have limited capability vs. none. The availability level and number of zones you pay for determines how that all happens. For banks, I would expect the requirement is SUPER high availability.

They went after Amazon specifically as well, since a LOT of services run on AWS.

Seeing some threads go way off topic coupled with the amazing amount of spam naturally makes me want to post about the functionality of my 61 year old hog

More later (not more to come) depending on interest levels.

Unrelated: I was changing the flapper in the condoland toilet with SWIMBO interupting and I broke the little post that the flapper rides on. Now I have to change the entire flush valve.

It's her fault but I dare not say that. Life is hard.

I've been avoiding this for days but I think I'm ready. But ready or not ... I'm going in. And I'm going deep.
