Re-Ripping my CD's : what's with the audio level measurement?

Thanks guys. I downloaded foobar to my wife's laptop and Buck is helping me out in a private message. So far I've ripped a couple cd's to WAV files and it went very smooth so I got that down. Now I need to figure out how to get it on my HT system. I have a few different options, but am not sure which would be best.

Ideally I would like to stream it somehow to my receiver or Xbox 1s and control it all with my tablet. I downloaded foobar and the foobar remote control to my tablet, but this is all new to me. Any help or advice would be awesome.

*Edit: I just got the remote to work on my tablet. I can control foobar on my wife's laptop from my tablet. Sweet. Now I just need to get some networking done. I want to be able to use it while my wife uses her laptop (where I have foobar downloaded), so a streaming option would be great. This is all new to me, so I'm not sure where to start.

I did not know foobar has a remote app!:oops::oops::eek:

Does it control it via Wi-Fi? How much config is required? Config on PC foobar and app?

I have some homework to do!

It works via wifi and the configuration was easy. You need this add on to foobar for the laptop. You can get the controller in the Play Store. Its pretty slick.

Alright then! I blew the dust off an old laptop, downloaded foobar again and ripped a bunch of cd's to WAV files (plenty of space, hardly any memory used at all). I hooked the lappy up to my receiver via HDMI and can control everything from my tablet or phone with the app.

I'm tickled pink. Everything worked, went smooth and I didn't break anything! Thanks for the tips here guys, and especially thanks to Buck for enduring a 3 page private conversation while he explained everything to me in detail. I'm up and running, everything is working and sounds great. Woot!

*Edit: I'm in a cd ripping frenzy right now. lol

What's nice Buck, is it's a retired laptop. I can dedicate ALL of the storage for music only. I think it'll be a while before I run out of room. I also have an external drive I can put my backup on.

I love it when a plan comes together.

I have a question. I was at neighbor Bob's last night and we were talking about ripping cd's. He uses Windows Media exclusively. It got me thinking... Why does no one recommend Windows Media for ripping cd's?

Some things are just generally reviled. I left Windows a decade ago. Media player sucked then it still sucks now.
