We had our card skimmed a few years back. Our bank called us as soon as it happened, cancelled the cards, replaced the money and opened new accounts the same day. I think Canadian banks have a different code of conduct regarding bank fraud than U.S. banks that is much more in favor of consumer protection. We were also contacted by the local police about the incident, where they thought the cards were skimmed and where the fraudulent transactions took place (Toronto). Sheep, don't be surprised if you get a call or visit from your local police because I'm sure the bank hasn't let the issue slide even though they've already covered your loss.
P.S. I'll start to worry if your little rocket gets into the 12's.
