Hey guys. Im new to all this audio stuff.
In the past I would just plug in a pair of logitechs and go, but I'm looking to expand my experience a little now. I been reading though and watching vids.

I'm planning on getting the Emotiva Ta2 soon (being donated to me by a family member to get me started).. If I decide at a later date to increase my amperage, (lets say I wanted to add a subwoofer) can I add an A1 Monoblock to it to power the Subwoofer, while the Ta2 powers the other 2 speakers? a.k.a. Use the amp in the Ta2 along with the A1 monoblock?... Or would I need to get the Emotiva PT2 and then get the needed amp/amps for whatever power hungry speakers I may get on down the road. (That is another subject... so many speakers lol)
Not sure if I can use the integrated amp along WITH a mono amp at same time?

P.S. Not stuck on anything at this time. I can easily buy something totally different and have the Emotiva as backup or just sell it.

Thank you!
Erica

You could get a sub without its own amp and provide your own, but unless going diy there's not a lot to choose from for "passive" subs.

You could get active speakers and skip the power amp, too.

Any budget for speakers and sub(s)?

If I keep the donated Emotiva, I won't need to buy that part. That will leave me around 3-4k to spend, at this moment. Can go higher if needed but that would cut into Christmas for the kids :p

There is just so much info to absorb and digest. I don't need the best but I want it to sound good too.

I'd just start with that donated Emotiva, it's a nicely featured unit to get you started. The electronics aren't nearly as important as the speakers, tho. 3-4k for speakers and subs is a very reasonable budget to get good sound, tho.

If I had $3K to $4K to spend I would definitely pile it in to speakers and powered subs. With that as a target budget, you could put together a killer system. The only challenge would be to pick something out from the forest of products. You'll need to sit down and put together a short list of things that are most important to you to achieve. Otherwise you will be drawn in many directions and not have a clear winner.

Details like the size of your listening area. Do you want to stick with stereo (2.0) or (2.1) or would you rather have a multi channel (like 5.1) for movies etc. Are you a basshead? How far away from the speakers are you likely to be sitting? Then, what do you want to hear the most?

At the AH we have no problem spending all your money. No problem at all. And the opinions and suggestions will be killer when you toss out some specifics to gnaw on
