Hi i have a quick question. i want to setup my Behringer dcx249x to crossover my mains and subs.

Mains are using a denon poa-2400
Subs - EP2500
Receiver Denon avr-3806

my question is can i set the proper output voltage using the gain option for the denon mains amp or do i need to order a step down circuit of some kind.

Thanks.

Your not going to have an issue coming out of the dcx. Going into it maybe:)

Going in? i have been using it as a sub only and has worked fine just havent integrated into the mains yet. also am running an art clean box.

one last thing i am going to assume the receiver will send the lfe channel to the mains if subwoofer is disabled?

Since you have the ART your good. The AVR will send the lfe to the mains if they are set to large. Are you going to send just the main out signal and then split it? Are you using dual subs?

correct. I was also asking if you were treating you mains and subs as 1 unit each? Mids/highs to main, low to sub?

Yes, LFE is routed to the mains, but at a severely attenuated level.

I think what he is want to do is make sure the main preouts send a full range signal out to the dcx and then allow the dcx to set the crossover for that signal, separation of the low/mid bass to subs and mids/high to his main.

Hmm guess it's a toss up then. Better sound quality or louder lfe. So the 3806 specificly attinuates the lfe output if set to mains or is there an option for lfe when that is setup ?

if you send the signal full range out of your avr, no sub listed in the avr, is one way and they way Id probably do it. Then apply the slope, crossover and filters to the appropriate outputs.

Set the fronts to large, set the sub to "no" then connect as follows:

Pre-out L/R to DCX (simple RCA-XLR converter, the DCX ups the voltage for you). Split each L/R into HF/LF. Run out from DCX to L-HF (mains L), L-LF (L sub), R-HF, and R-LF.

The voltages coming out will be tuned for XLR. I'm not sure what an RCA amp does with such a high voltage without a stepdown first.

As for your bass modifiction in the Denon, you can program it in the DCX, no problem (and bass-freq correction, such as Audessy still works fine as that's preamp). If you want it sometimes and not others, save two profiles in the DCX and switch between them. A little bothersome if you change modes very frequently, but it's my recommendation.

What can i use for the step down? can the art clean box since it has 2 input output converters work as such?

Ok am still waiting on the replacement receiver to ship (denon 3806) and the new step down circuit.

I am curious on the best crossover settings to use for the mains and subs
on my other thread in the DIY section i had it set for separate sub channel and it worked well

Main speakers Polk audio RTI-A9
subs DIY infinity kappa perfect VQ in ported enclosures

subs are currently about 4.5 feet away from mains. will change that when i move everything to larger room
