Quick question about surround sound + music

Ok so here's the set up:
I've got a home theatre receiver with 4 speakers hooked up. Now all of the speakers are large tower speakers, 2 of which can hit 20hz and the other 2 can get down to 25hz. I have all of the speakers set to the "Large" type on my amplifier but my question is, for the "Rear" speakers, is my amplifier sending the speakers low frequencies like it would with the front speakers?
(Or, does this depend on my specific amplifier or are all new ones pretty much the same like that?)

If your receiver's bass management is working properly, ALL speakers that are set to 'large' will get a full-range signal.

But, you must also note: CD's are not a surround format. They are stereo (left and right) only. So, if you play a CD and think nothing is coming out of the rear speakers, it is because nothing is supposed to come out of the rear speakers.

Depending on your receiver there may be a setting that allows you to send stereo audio to all of the speakers in your room in stereo. I use Yamaha's 6 channel stereo all the time to do this. Not for serious 2-channel listening, but when I have a party and just want to fill the room with music as the front speakers are nowhere near the kitchen and the rest of the party.
