DVI passes video only, no audio. Assuming you get a receiver that processes the new audio formats from a PS3 rather than a pass-through receiver, then you want to go HDMI to your receiver and HDMI to DVI cable to your TV. You still have to send audio to your TV for the times when you don’t want to fire up the surround sound. You should be able to do this by running RCA cables from the PS3 to the back of your TV. If you have other devices such as a satellite box, then it is best to run all devices to your receiver for switching and then RCA to the TV. You have to keep the receiver volume low and then you can use the TV volume control.
