I have sat/TV, and they give me some music channels. Now I just got a new receiver that has XM & Sirius capabilities. What I would like to know so very much, since no one here,(my small town) can give me an affirmative answer, Does the music from either of these sources sound as clear and the quality as good as the Sat music I am receiving? Just wondering if it just sounds like FM radio which is not bad, but to me not the quality of SAt/music?? If so which of the two folks like here for music??? Thanks!!!

I have Sirius and XM (I pay for Sirius and XM is free in the SUV) XM sounds fantastic on DirectTV but Sirius sounds like crap on DishNet, the musicChoice channels on Time Warner and other cable companies sounds great also. Sirius or XM sounds best if hard wired to your vehicle and not pulled in over a empty station on a car stereo but dont expect anything really special, some channels sound like really good FM and some sound like average/below average FM and the more channels they add the worse it will get. HD radio is a joke so I do still think paying for choice and commercial free radio and vast entertainment channels are a good value.

Sat radio

I have XM at home and in one of the cars. The sound quality of most stations is better than FM but not quite as good as CD. It is great for background music with a wide variety of artists.

Also note, if you are using an FM modulator in the car then it would somewhat limit the sound quality to FM.

The Sirius and XM merger has been approved so they should be able to get a combination of XM and Sirius stations some time soon.

Thankyou for your replys, thought it would slip through the cracks. I only want XM & Ser for home use. My present sound sat music is better then FM but not as good as CDs. Guess I will save money and wait until they make improvements. I mostly listen to Sat music so I can preveiw new music before I buy the CD version. When I was younger I bought so many records and only 20% was a four or five star because all I had to go by is how attractive the album cover was!lo My love for music is wide, and I have found alot of excellant world wide music! Always looking for that new sound, now that I have this wonderfull sound system. Bob any special sounds you like, let me know I will definately review it!

Pandora.com is an excellent site for finding music you like while discovering new bands.

I have XM through DirecTV and, to me, it sounds pretty bad. Certainly analog FM around here sounds better.
