First of all, thanks to those who suggested the infinity beta 20's. I was able to get the first two from harmon audio at about 65 each(shipping included).
The last two I got used but in great condition as a pair on ebay for 105(free shipping) I narrowly missed getting the 360 center that was being sold with the pair but ended up getting the 250 center.
For my receiver right now I am using a Sony KTR - K6800P. It is a somewhat old receiver my dad got with a complete surround sound system for about $500. Is there a cheap receiver I can get that will be significantly better than this one, or should I just stick with this one? I am looking to spend about $150 for the receiver.
Also, turning the speaker up to MAX doesn't seem to distort the speakers at all and while quite loud, isn't to the point of being painful. Is this just because the speakers can handle more than the receiver can put out?
You got my old speakers.
the 360 greatly overpowers the beta 20s. So I the 250 is better match instead. It's an amazing center, but it dwarfed those Beta 20s.
I'm glad to hear you like them.

I was concerned when I hadn't gotten any feedback via ebay.
HK makes very good amps for a decent price. Watch out for the HK AVR 247. You can get one shipped for 205
If you aren't hearing any humming I wouldn't risk it on a sub 150 receiver.
They were driven with an Onkyo 705 and an Panasonic HE100 in the short time I owned them. The 705 was masterful with them.
Yes they can take a lot of power and easily fill a large room with sound. They have 6.5" drivers and amazing highs. I suggest you try out some brass music with them. And you will know what I'm talking about.
