Questions about AVR and 6.1 system

Hello

I have Marantz SR7005 and want to go for 6.1 and I am not sure whether sound will be loud; especially for the main; or not. Will adding 4 speakers (Center & three Surround Speaker effective in watching movies and capturing every action? How will it affect the main? how many dB am I going to lose? Do I need Amp?
Moreover, do you think installing three surround speakers can be effective? the arrangement will be as follow; two on the side and one behind the sweet spot. All surround speakers shall di-pole; do you think arrangement works especially if distance can vary from sweet spot to each speaker location on wall by (4' - 5') since room has irregular shape?

You wont loose volume.
Yes different distances for different speakers is normal. The distance setting & individual speaker adjustments will make up for those things. If setup correctly it will sound great.
These are very novice questions which is ok but id recommend reading up on Home Theater basics 101, speaker placement, speaker setup etc. Here on Audioholics you can find great explanations on all of these topics.

If you want a great home theater experience then yes, adding a center channel & 2-4 surround channels, will enhance your movie watching tremendously!
Dont forget to add a good sub!!! Thats VERY IMPORTANT!! Even if you think your main speakers have bass, its not enough for a good movie theater feel. That reminds me to tell you to read up on Proper Bass Management as well. Trust me, a little research on your part before jumping into this will go a LONG way & save you some headaches!!

Nice illustration I say. I have 2.1 setting Klipsch RF 82II and HSU VTF3 MK3. I am thinking to extend the system to 6.1 because of space limitation. (can't go for 7.1)
I am planning to use three surround speakers, but the question is do I use radiator (Klipsch RB 81II) or dipole (Klipsch RS62II)??? Two of surround will be on side while one will be positioning behind the sweet spot.

Personally i like all my surrounds to be DirectRadiating. But youll do fine either way. Dipoles are a little easier to place. If your only watching movies then 3 dipoles will give you a nice diffused soundstage behind you. But i dont think those Klipsch are sold individually. If they arent the. Just add 2 surrounds. A 5.1 sounds just as good as a 6.1 or 7.1 unless you have multiple rows of seats. Savethe money & at least start off with 5.1. Then if you feel your missing something add speakers.

I have ran both 6.1 & 7.1 but went back to 5.1 when i upgraded. I dont feel im missing any surround presence at all.

Thats great that you have the HSU sub. Your further along then i thought so excellent!!! Add a few channels & your going to have a very good theater experience!!!

One of the questions was should OP need to add an amp - know that we know the combination of SR7005 and Klipsch speakers - the 100% answer is no - you don't need an amp unless you parties with tons of people in same room or you room is approx over 800 sq^2 ft or 8000 sq^3 ft

Thanks again for sharing your experience with me. I think 5.1 shall fit for my need. Moreover, I phoned Klipsch authorized seller in my region. They told me I can get 3 RS 62II if I like. but then I requested two Klipsch RS 62II and one RC 62II.

HSU Sub has different story. The shipment of this unit cost me more than its price. Even their sales representative offered a second sub with 20% discount , since shipment cost will remain unchanged. However, I wasn't planning to get a second sub and his offer amused me, but I didn't buy it. Now, I regret not getting that sub.

In fact, I spoke to Emotiva Sales Representative to get the best deal for Emotiva XPA-2 yesterday. since the unit weights about 90 Ib, I worried about shipping cost. He replied to me in the same day and brought very good offer that I give it a consideration. my living room is less than 400 ft2. I may postponed adding amp later since this unit won't ship before late Feb.

Nice job on the RC62II & RS62II. My buddy has those & he loves them!!

As far as getting an amp, wait until you get everything hooked up. The Klipsch are SO efficient you honestly will probably never use more than 30watts per channel at your highest volumes in that room.

I can say one thing though, my buddy has those Klipsch & he was running them off a Pioneer Elite VSX01TXH. It would get screamy at high levels. Once he upgraded his receiver to an Integra 50.2 his Klipsch got much warmer & much more pleasing to listen to, less fatiguing. I dont know if it was the power difference or the difference from the MCACC & Auddessey. But i still say hold off on the Emotiva for now. Because if tou find you Marantz serves you plenty then use that money for the second VTF3!!! Youll get a much bigger improvement with a second sub then an amp hooked up to Klipsch!!!!

Glad to hear your buddy is happy with his system performance, integra 50.2 is quite solid AVR. I am not fan of Pioneer or Yamaha, but I herd Yamaha and Klipsch don't mix well. Both, Marantz and integra provide worm quality audio, which is suitable for Klipsch's horn speaker.
It isn't possible to invest more at Sub because my neighbor don't quit complaining about my Sub shaking his windows, not sure if his claim right or wrong but surely this won't let me get another Sub. Maybe in future I shall go to bigger house with no people around to complain about my system. Then I may get 4 Subs , one on each corner!!

6.1 system

Great ideal to go 6.1! I like the dipole style speakers. They are more attractive and do a great job. I have a 9.1 system with dipole and direct speakers. The direct speaker can handle more power power but the dipole are so close in performance, that it is a personal choice. The dipoles are great for surround stereo music since they fill the room without taking away from the front stage. When is comes to amps, they will just about make any system sound better. The quality come through at low and high volumes. It is the transient peaks in movies and music where the amps really shine, but once again, a personal choice/money, lol. Good luck!
