Question on impedance of Zone 2/presence speakers on Yamaha V659

Hi everyone,

I've just purchased the Yamaha V659 and have a question about how I intende to use it's zone 2 functionality.

I have polks for my 5.1 system in my TV room and two Bose Interaudio 3000XLs in my adjacent sitting room. The polks are all 8 OHM nominal impedance, but the Bose only say they require a receiver with nominal 4-8 ohm impedance. I called up BOSE and was told that they can handle either 4 or 8 ohms.

So, two questions:

1) Can I measure, somehow, the impedance of my speakers, individually? If so, how?

2) Based on this information, do any of you think I'd have any impedance mismatch issues running both sets of speakers simultaneously with different inputs (CD or Tuner for the Bose and DVD for the Polks)? This question assumes that the V659's internal amp is powering all of the speakers - I'm not using the Zone 2 pre-outs.

Thanks,
Ben

You shouldn't have any issues. The receiver is using separate internal amplification to power the 2nd zone.
