Hi Every one.

I have a question or two about these speakers. I got these from a friend of mind last monday, he wanted to upgrade to floor standing setup, so he gave me his older JBL ES20 JBL ES25C i believe it's the correct model number. Any way, i decided to hook them to my pioneer 1121-k receiver and they sound fantastic, but it seems like they're lacking in some LFE. I have my hsu vtf 1 sub set to 80 hz on receiver.

My question is: how can i get these to put out low bass, every thing is set to small, sub cross over to 150hz and 25 hz single port. When i was testing these with transformers the darkmoon the first scene i can hear some rumble but not in your face rumble. Should i set the cross over to 100 hz on receiver?

any suggestions would be great.

The JBL ES20 is -3 db at 82 hz > they do not have a lot of bass - raise the crossover up
You still will not get in your face bass - however, overall bass should be a little better.

Hi Jim,
thanks for the reply what does -3db actually mean?.

Hi Jim,
thanks for the reply what does -3db actually mean?.
To put it in somewhat so-called layman terms >
It is a way to measure, the output or audible capabilities of the bass response - you see and hear where the
bass begins to roll-off. The lower the bass, the better it is to mate with a good subwoofer. Most of us prefer
that the bass of the front speakers play lower, and as low as possible below 80 hz. > This makes for a better
blend/balance with the subwoofer.

One correction, the -3db point of the JBL is 84 hz.
