Hello everyone,

I have a question about the dolby digital listening mode; Can any of you get your receiver to be set in the "dolby digital" mode? When I first insert a DVD, the receiver listening mode will read "d digital," however, shortly thereafter, the mode switches to either "neural THX", or "Dolby PLII Movie." Is the "Dolby PLII Movie" mode the same as "Dolby Digital mode?" I'm doubtful, but am curious about to hear about your experiences. I have verified that, when a DTS dvd is in play, the receiver displays, "DTS," so i would expect the same for Dolby Digital . . .

Any opinions??

Thanks in advance for your help.

If it switches to DPLII Movie then the input signal was DD 2.0 or Analog. If you indicated that you have 7.1 speakers then it would still switch to DPLIIx Movie mode when the input signal is DD 5.1. Check your DVD player setting and ensure that it is set to output 'bitstream'.

Also check the default mode for input signals. You may have it set to automatically use THX mode for DD 5.1.

I've never had this problem.

How are you feeding audio into the receiver?

You guys rock!!

I did not dig deep enough, into the DVD setup . . . the player default was set to D-PCM, in lieu of Dolby Digital. Thanks alot for your help . . . wish I would have posted sooner . . . could have been enjoying better sound quality, :)

Man, I'm glad to have asked the question, 'cause I've been racking my brain to get it to work.

Cheers, and thanks again.
