Question for Denon owners and fans

I will be purchasing a Denon AV receiver soon, still deciding on what model. I have noticed during researching the various models that some have the same look and features, but the model number is different. For example the AVR-1905 appears to be the same as the AVR-785. It even has the same numbers on the user manual cover sheet that I downloaded from Denon's site. Does anyone know why this is?

Purely marketing. Same thing Yamaha does with its HTR vs RXV models. Some models are only sold at certain types of stores to give the impression of increased 'value' vs the same model sold at a retailer.

Denon AVR-1905 Bad Marketing
=======================

It is a disgusting marketing exercise by Denon regarding the model numbering and packaging.

I just brough the AVR1905 in Singapore, basing on the manual for 1905 in USA because it is the only manual available.

To my disappointment, two major features are taken out from the US version.
1. Zone 2
2. Up/down video conversion (partial)
The Singapore version is used in many European countries, basing on the languages shown in the printed manual that comes with it.
If these features are important to you, you should give it a second though.

Regards,
