I want to buy a trends audio amp to be used with my office computer and infinity 150. I like it because it is small and I don't need loud music at office. Currently I can only find it at audiomagus. They have the original version at $150, mini mod at $175 and value mod at $235. Does anyone here have the mod versions and are they worth the extra money? Thanks.
Don't really know if the modded one is better than the unmodded one.
I just got my 10.1 with the value mods and am mixed about it.
With my Magnepans it was wonderful. Much more than I could have hoped for. It was much better than anything else I've owned.
With my B&W's and System Audio's it made them sound boxy. Too much bass!
I am going to be breaking them in and perhaps that will change. I'll let you know. I've read one posting where the person said the change was dramatic.
As for if mods make any difference, I'm sure it does.
For example, I changed my capacitors in my speaker crossover and the end result is a much much greater improvement over stock.
The first thing they did with the value mods was to change the caps. Without hearing the before and after I can only asssume it is better and I would expect increases in clarity and imaging. Just guessing.
If the difference in price worries you then I think you would be very happy with the base model. One of the first reviews on these T-amps was with the $30 model and they loved it. The Trends 10.1, according to reviews, is much better than the original model.
I don't think you could go wrong with any choice you make.
