question about model numbers for pioneer vsx-1018

I am looking for a new receiver to replace my venerable one. I have been looking at the Pioneer vsx-1018.
Best Buy lists the model # as VSX-1018TXH-K, I have also seen it listed on other web sites including this one with this designation.

On the Pioneer website, and Amazon.com the Listing is for VSX-1018AH-K
(there is a significant sale price on Amazon for the this receiver)

Are these the same receivers? Is one a 2008 model and the other a 2008.5, so to speak?

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Jerry. I was hoping someone would jump in with the answer, as I was also curious if Pioneer actually produced the THX version.

I think that the VSX-1018TXH-K model number was the original plan, but that Pioneer didn't get the THX certification or sound modes in this unit, so it became the VSX-1018AH-K. That's just my speculation, and I'd love to hear the real story. I haven't gone to Best Buy to see what the actual units and boxes say on them.

I stopped by Best Buy at lunch and the boxes, sign and receiver on display all said
VSX-1810AH-K. So that answers that question. When I was there last week there wasn't a sign for that model. and I didn't read the box that closely.

Thanks for all of the replys!!!
