question about Denon 5805, multi zone & $75k system

It is amazing what all the 5805 will do. But in some ways it doesn't make sense to me. For $6,000 I get a receiver that will run 5.1 x 2 or 3 zones (see $75k system), but I either have to make long runs of cables to get the source from Zone 2 & 3 back to the 5805, or use the source in the other room (unless I am using radio).

Would it not make more sense to buy 3 4306? I can see the usefulness in a second zone, depending on the application; but by the time you spend 6 grand... I feel like I am missing something here.

I agree.

For most people, and for anyone who is not doing new construction, it makes more sence to have a couple complete systems and eliminate the wiring between rooms. For most people's secondary HT, a $1K receiver would work great. All you really need in the 2nd HT for sources is a DVD player.

The primary HT can connect to zone 2, 3, etc. and can also output audio to the secondary HT using a single set of analog RCA cables. This way you only need a single 300 disk CD changer, MP3 player, XM radio, etc. and can listen to it in all rooms.

While the Denon 5805 has a lot of features in one package, it doesn't allow for cool touch pads in each room for selecting the music source like a full fledged multizone music system and distribution amplifier would do.
