PSB Imagine T vs Image T6

I think I've narrowed my speakers down to either B&W 683, PSB Imagine T or PSB Image T6

I'm just curious is it worth almost double the price to spring for the Imagine T over the Image T6 speakers?

Unfortunately the only store in Dallas that I've found with PSB speakers only has the Imagine T so I won't be able to test the Image T6. This is the reason for my question.

I havent' comapred the two side by side. I would guess that the Imagine T6 would dig a little deeper than the Imagine T in the bass (based on the drivers and cabinet volume ) if thats important to you but I think the Imagine Ts are better than the Image 6T over all.

I was in your same dilema just recently. I ended up going with the Imagine T for my front setup. The Imagine T's were simply cleaner, more detailed, and look beautiful. The Image T6 were nice but if you have the cash i would spring for the Imagine setup.

The Imagine T's do not have quite the bass, but i have rythmik subs now and the blend is just awesome. Again, very clean, crisp, sound, and the subs do the bass in a similar fashion. The Imagine T's will produce some bass dont get me wrong, but it muddies their sound to me. I have the top port plugged so the mids are nice and clean and again, lower end is handled by the sub. The imaging is very good, the upper end crisp and clean. The Image T6's sounded a little harsh so to speak on the upper end....not terrible but when you run them side by side you can tell. I was able to get both in the same room, running on the same setup using the same demo songs.

So, choose what is important. But if you have to save a little more to get them, do it. I am glad i did. I got a super deal on mine. Check around, i think saturday audio has some b stock (not all that sure what that means) that you can get a pretty good deal on.

I like the Image T6, I have heard both side by side I found that the mid-range was better on the T6 due to the extra driver which is solely response for the mids. I have included a PDF comparing the specs of both.

Fwiw the T6 is a true 3 way design and the Imagine T is not. For a more level comparison we should use the T5 vs. Imagine T...

Just saying...:).

What's up Billy? it's been awhile, true the T6 is a 3 way design. I believe the Imagine T is considered a 2.5 way like the T5 and your right that would be a better comparison but was trying to stay in line with OP's question.

Well I'm considering looking into the Imagine T's. My current speakers have being devalued recently due to circumstance but on par with any mid level Psb's ot Paradigm offering sold here in Canada. Maybe I'll have to consdier ID because the Synchrony or the Sig's are a real stretch...:(.

The Aperions, right now look very tempting or maybe later the New Ascends...we'll shall see.:)

I posted my intent to sell them in a sub forum(energy owners) over at Avs. As I told some of the members who PM'ed me ...shipping would be a real PITA considering what these speakers are currently selling for Stateside. I'll likely list them here and locally use craiglist to see what develops.

Thanks, though...:)

If your speakers are on par with midlevel PSB/Paradigm, yeah it will take some money for a significant upgrade.

Since you've been a nice proponent (the first I remember in fact) of FunkyWaves, maybe you can kindly convince him to knock out some cabinets for you (I mean if he's only done subs before for others)? Find out what kinds of drivers are available in your area, and decide if you want a 2way or 3way etc. For instance, down here you can build a pair of ER18 for $550 in parts, not including wood. Perhaps the closest resembling speaker to it by the same designer costs $4200, though the latter does use superior drivers (from the same brand, SEAS).

Just an idea!

i must have missed that post (i've made a few in that thread), but that's totally understandable. we can get em for 400 shipped, and international shipping is stupid expensive even between canada/usa :(

I have spoken to him about speakers because he builds and designs them too...but, with any custom design or builder it really boils down to budget. At this particular time I'm not sure what that is....
