Flat is better but I don't believe 2 to 3 db dips and bumps in freq response is a big deal. Besides room acoustic characteristics, our hearing senses (among one another) probably vary more than that anyway. I worry more about all sorts of distortions. B&W's 800 series seem to have good distortion figures. PSB, and some Paradigm models also have good distortion numbers but not nearly as good as the KEF 201/2. I would bet the Ravel top models will have excellent numbers too.
