thats ordered and picked up and they didn't carry that line so I can't even hear them.

Have you looked at any of the PSB Image series? They are in the same price class as the Paradigm monitors

I'll be in Ottawa tomorrow to find some PSBs I'm going to Bleekers poss and I'm going to look up some other places.

With my buddies home theater build we listened to both PSB and Paradigm. Picked up the PSB Image T45's over similarly priced Paradigms.

I think you'll go with the PSB's. They may not be as refined as the Studios but they will certainly be as good if not better the the Monitors. I personally never auditioned the digms because IMO other Canadian mfg's offer better value for your dollar.

Own PSB (T45/C40/B25), and had the advantage of auditioning vs Paradigm, as the same dealer carries PSB, Paradigm, and JM-Focal. Compared PSB Image vs Paradigm Monitor for a long time, and PSB Image vs Paradigm Studio for a short time. PSB Image, IMO, is better sounding than the Monitor Series, but not as good sounding as the Studio Series; it falls in between, but closer to the Studio Series, for the same price as Monitor Series.

cool, well I think the decision is pretty clear, I just need to listen to them, but I am sure they are going to be great. Just have to prey for good price.

I found a pair of studio 20s to listen to and they sounded very nice, well balanced, especially after listening to an $800 pair or energy,s ? they were somewhat dissapointing not bad but not for $800 mayby $600. Then I heard some Tannoy sensys DC1 on sale for about $1050 They sounded the best out of what I've heard so far, with the exeption of the super tweeter on the top it looked kinda like a cyclopse but even the $500 pair sounded good and no tweeter on top but they would need a sub. I'm in Montreal in couple of weeks and I'm going to find some PSBs to listen to and go from there.
Hey skads when you find some Image and or some GB1 monitors please let me know It will help in my trip plan.

SA, DMC, and CL, all sell A Stock brand new, and are factory authorized dealers. DMC sells their A Stock at list, so they are expensive, but they have B-Stock (brand new with minor cosmetic damage) at excellent pricing. SA and CL sell A-Stock at discounted prices.

Check their pricing on PSB, and use it as a reference point to negotiate with your local PSB dealer. When negotiating price keep in mind that if you don't live in the Chicago, IL area (SA), or in the vicinity of Valatie, NY, you will have to pay inbound freight. That is an extra expense to take in consideration. To have an idea CL's price page has freight estimates for the different speaker models.

If like in my case, your PSB dealer does not want to properly negotiate, mine wanted MSRP and that was it, audition at their place, and buy somewhere else; is their loss.

DMC will negotiate and drop prices to competitive rates. If you are ok with blemished, its beats all prices. I detect zero blemishes, perhaps I don't have an eye for it. Another big bonus is that they carry the sienna finish, which in my opinion looks the best by far.

Good news is, that I bought them today, had to finance them though
so I had to pay a bit extra for the interest.

I didn't have much time, however, they were highly recommended here and at the store. I listened to the 2 fronts (t45) they sounded really good. Played a couple of rock songs. This is what I listen to.

I will only be able to hook these up in 3-4 months when I move out.
The real question now is, do I set my amp (pioneer 1016) to 6 ohms or leave them at 8 ohms?

Also one of the salesmen told me that they have a 100 hour break-in. Yikes

Perhaps set it to 6, since that's what your speakers nominal is, which happens to dip to a minimum of 4. I have no idea how the amp might do something differently though, someone else who knows hopefully can chime in.

Who cares about break-in, seriously. I don't. Some say it happens, others say it doesn't, but it doesn't matter to me at all. Just make sure you like them right out of the box.

It doesn't surprise me that you like them with rock music. And finally, congrats!

Leave your receiver at the 8ohm setting. That'll be fine. I have a cheapy Technics receiver that handles them without breaking a sweat.

Not totally BS, I used to say the same. I don't know if you remember that last week I was mentioning that some music, especially heavy metal and rock, seemed too bright or somewhat harsh. Well, on Saturday while hearing music I noticed the sound started to change, and it has settled. Highs are not as harsh as they were. I truly believe this was due to break-in. It is a different sound, much better.

My comment doesnt have much to do with the quote. I would go to
2001audiovideo.com for Canada and PSB speakers. Take a drive if you have to to ontario if the store wont deal with you. Call in advance several border locations. The dealer I went to in Newmarket was quite adimat (spelling) that they are canadian made and definately cheaper than the website list. I bought the PSB Alpha B1's for $230 the list is about $275 i think (I didnt have o negotiate, that was their in store price. So do not pay retail. Take a drive if you need to set an appointment, or negotiate on phone with a sales rep, and work out shipping. stores will bend over backwards to get your business, referrals and repeat business is what it is all about. I hope this message got to you prior to you buying any PSB's. Remember, if one guy says no, you say thanks and hang up and move to the next store location on the list. No biggie.

I'm just speaking thru my experience. I never ever found them harsh but I found the bass to be a little polite. but like I said, after about 10 hours of listening, they had the sound that I have now. A 100 hours .......that's way too much. My speakers were brand new out of the box so I know they weren't used before.

I noticed the same after a short time, but in the long run, after having them for a few months now, and maybe around 100 to 150 hours of use I noticed a bigger difference, the highs more tamed. Some people say break in is BS, others that it is very important...Who knows it might change from speaker batch to speaker batch; though unlikely.
