well I need to keep them smallish maybe in the PSBs GDI monitors or Image B25s or mayby the (Synchrony Two's If I wait till fall), but I'm off to the boat show in Ottawa this weekend so I'll have to find a dealer for those, otherwise Cornwall is my other option for paradigm studios.
I'm matching them with a Denon AVR3300
Hey, I'm in Ottawa too. The Synchrony's are expensive. I've not heard them yet but read many favourable reviews. They are also 4 Ohms so you need a stout amp to drive them.

AVR 3300 105w per channel bought it in 2000 I was thinking of an upgrade but after reading alot of fourms most think the speakers are more important.

Read the owners manual to say what it says. I'm leaning towards a no on this driving the Synchronies. The "most" are correct. Speaker upgrades will be the most noticeable. :)

I may have to focus on the GDIs at 6 ohms the receiver will handle 6-16 ohms the price may be better for me to handle as well. I don't think I'm ready for another $1500+ reciever and speakers.
Could you point out a good dealer in the city I don't go that often I'm stuck in Lancaster most of the time.

I don't want to brag, but paid $1146.00, plus $190.00 air freight to PR for a complete set of Black T45/C40/B25 from SA. Got lucky on the B25, as I ordered B15, but since they were out of stock they upgraded to B25's for the same price. I know in Canada is a different story, as far as pricing goes.

1. Would I upgrade my rears from B15 to B25? Only if I was into multichannel music. For HT I wouldn't.

2. If budget is a concern, B25 is an excellent speaker to be used as mains. So, consider B25/C40/B15. Be advised that sometimes when you add the price for a good pair of stands the price for the B25 is almost the same as T45.

3. 3dB, yes the CAD is almost equal to the USD (USD$1.00 = CAD$1.0126), but aren't you guys taxed heavily for these goods? There lies the difference in price.

yeah exactly, the dollar is almost the same, however, when you compare prices, not all of the stores have matched their prices with the States. It's weird. some are slowly starting to, others are just making crazy money. Its a shame.

I am so p... off with pricing on Canadian made speakers, I won't buy them. Here's a rule of thumb in case you purchase from outside of Canada. http://www.thefinalcost.com/

I agree!!! It's a principal thing.

I shop around quite a bit and Canuckistan prices are still 30-40% higher than USD.

The Cdn dollar has been at close to parity for almost a year now. It's pathetic you can buy items from the states for cheaper even when freight and tax are included!!!

I would really like to buy some PSB's, but the prices in Edmonton are ridiculous (only one dealer).

Love the link, thanks a million.
the only thing is for Quebec, its missing the pst tax (provincial) Which is about another 6% right now I believe.

Another thing, on a side note, anyone ordering anything from the US and getting it shipped by UPS, you can save on the brokerage fees if you clear the package yourself. Example: when I buy expensive electronic items off ebay, I ask the seller to put in big writing: "Hold for Pickup" and "clear zone" on the item's box. Then the seller needs to give you the tracking # as soon as he/she gets it. Then you call customer service and make sure again, you tell them to hold it at the warehouse for pickup. Once it has arrived they call you. You go there (at the UPS location warehouse). They give you some papers and directions to the nearest customs building. Luckily for me here in Montreal its only 5 minutes away from the ups building. You go there, they ask you what you're bringing in, where its made and what its worth (even though all of that information is on the papers). Then you pay the tax and save on the brokerage fees which can be pretty high on an expensive item.
You gotta have the time for it though. But to save 100-150$, its worth it. But get informed first before doing this and the seller needs to co-operate with all of the above to make it smooth. I got screwed once when the seller didn't give me the tracking # in time and they showed up at my house.
let me know if you have any questions.

Its pi??ing me off too but then again everything in Ontario costs more. You think PSB is bad. You should try buying Denon in Canada. Talk about mark-up. They're easily $300 to $400 more than a comparable equipped Yamaha. Figure that one out.:rolleyes:

Not necessarily crazy money, depends how much you paid for your stock. As old stock dwindles then prices will start to come down.

Yeah, but dont forget, when the dollar was even for the longest time, hardly none of the stores and companies lowered their prices to match up with the US. It took the government to intervene to get the process going faster. This is what I've heard.
