I was set on svs pb12 until yesterday when I came across the xv15.From looking at endless posts since,I cant see a reason not to buy.For the price its seems to be the best bang for the buck. For $800 shipped is there anything else I should consider, ready to pull the trigger.

If I dont crank it up on a regular basis,is it overkill?Im not looking to shake the house, couch or my chest.Just looking to bring out the bass in music and rumble in theater 22x22x8 room, carpet

The only subs that come close are the Hsu VTF3 and Outlaw LFM-1 EX, but they still can't quite match the XV15's mid bass output. You can't go wrong with the XV15, and in that room I think you will be grateful for the output capability of the XV15.

Suffice it to say that you'll be thankful on those rare occasions you do want to crank it up.

Regarding competitors, the LFM-1EX on sale would be a great value, though that just ended AFAIK. You could try to wheel and deal though.

Shady is right (as is Steve for that matter re: Outlaw deal). The XV15 is pretty much THE sub to beat at that price point, and your probably looking at DIY for something better at $800.

This sub shipped is $750,psa is $800 shipped. For $50 more is seems like a no brainer for the PSA. 15" over 12",5 year warranty over 3 year.Is there ANYTHING Im missing,or any sub for $800 or less that wold be better. Buying today!!!

P.S It looks as the sale is for free shipping. If I can manage to buy for $650 shipped.Would $150 savings justify the smaller sub.Is there a noticeable difference between a 15" and 12". First sub

I'd say the $150 difference would make it a viable alternative. Would there be a difference? Nothing a few cases of beer purchased with the savings wouldn't smooth over :D

You can compare the two here pretty easily:

I think the whole customer service thing is about to come into play.
I called Outlaw to ask some questions.Prompt1,prompt2,prompt3.I get to presales,a woman answers the phone and says theres nobody available to answer questions (on a Thursday during business hours)I left my number with her an hour ago,no call back.An hours not a long time, but when your ready to buy,it kinda is.Not to mention they should have been there to begin with.
I called PSA yesterday.Tom himself answered the phone and talked to me for a 1/2 hour.
Outlaw, your juuuust about to lose a potential sale.

There's something to be said for that. One of the reasons I've stuck with SVS over time has been the rock solid support. From everything I've heard, it sounds like Tom is carrying on that tradition quite well.

I spoke with Tom from PSA Via multiple emails. I explained to him what I want. He asked for my room dimensions, type of music / movies I like, how loud I spect it to get. He recommended the PSA-XV30 or two XV-15's.

My room dimensions are smaller than yours, but I've got an open floor plan that leads to the kitchen, front door and side garage door, and have vaulted ceiling. I'm currently using a Klipsch RW-12D, which I got on sale from newegg.com for $320 shipped, and it does a decent job for movies. For music such as jazz and classical I can noticed that it struggles with certain notes. I was thinking of buying a second Klipsch, but I'm afraid thatwon't make me happy. So, I am saving for the XV-30.

After doing a lot of research, reading, emailing and talking on the phone with several manufacturers, I concluded PSA offers the best bang for the $$$. It's going to take me a few months and lots of over time so save up for it.

P.S. HT has become a disease for me to the point my wife is getting upset since I keep buying and selling my set up, and I'm never happy with it lol. I'm actually thinking of selling my 7.1 set up and go with HTD Level 3's.

Here's mine. Yamaha YST-SW500. http://www.hifido.co.jp/photo/12/393/39339/b.jpg

Had a remote and 3 stored settings for different uses and could be adjusted from the remote as well. I spent so much time messing with the sub settings that I just got tired of it. Sound was adequate, not good. Good to about 25Hz. Was good to have the remote too though as I had a macro to turn it on and set the level to my "normal" calibrated setting in case I was messing around with it last time
