Hey everyone, just curious as to your thoughts on the PS4's built in BD player? Ive watched a few movies on it now and it doesn't seem to carry the same audio impact my old Pioneer BDP-320 could do. The picture quality is about on par, but with audio it seems i need to turn it up louder. My Anthem mrx300 also always shows 2.0 PCM all the time even though the movie should be DTS MA. I only run a 2.1 setup but thought the receiver would still show up in DTS MA. any thoughts on this? was thinking of selling my PIO but i might hook it back up

I don't have a PS4, but I have a PS3, and on mine there's a menu where you set up how you want audio to be passed out over HDMI (or whatever connection you are using). I suggest that you go in there and double check that all of the sound modes that you want are enabled. Of course, if someone with a PS4 knows better, than just ignore me. :)

The PS4 does not have those configurations, you basically get to choose optical or HDMI for audio out :) You have audio formats you can enable and idiotically, you can only choose one from the list rather than selecting multiples. I have my PS3 and PS4 both connected in the same system and I don't notice much difference in audio.

yea i know about setting the audio up, but it doesn't matter what i set it to, it always just says 2.0 pcm on my receiver. I'm going to hook my 320 bad up tonight and watch superman and see what it says on the reciever.

i used the 320 tonight for superman and it came up the way it should be on the receiver as DTS MA. so not sure if I'm receiving that through ps4 or not.. if i had spare money id buy the oppo 103 but thats not in the near future.

You might have accidentally forgot to set it to bitstream. I am sure that would have been the first thing you checked but please just double check that one more time. I only have the PS3 and do have a Pio 320 as well. The 320 may sound better in analog out but in digital especially HDMI bitstream, they should not sound much different.
