PS3 Update without Internet

Just bought a lake house, buying furniture, TV, all that crap, would like to have a PS3 to play movies, and entertain, but I do not have an internet connection there, nor do I want one. Can the PS3 be updated by CD? If so, how successful are the updates?

My understanding is that you can perform a firmware update (if you need one at all) by CD, USB drive, or any of the compatible memory formats which may be on your PS3 (Memory Stick, CF, etc.)

I think you just go to Sony's website to get the firmware download and follow the instructions.

It's supposed to be uber easy!

Likewise, if you have neighbors that live close to your home, they may have wi-fi which you could leech off of for a firmware upgrade via wi-fi. ;)

I never thought about getting it off another person,s network. Good idea. I will reseach the USB key more, hopefully now that it is 2.0 profile I won't have to do to many more updates.
