Hi
Little help please.

ps3 output is the sony av to component. Using rapid run component cables.
Obvious sound output is via speakers, however I do have the sound bar amp and it needs its signal. I have a rapid run cable just for one of the inputs on the sound bar. What should I be using for the output on the rx-v861? the pre-outs don't seem to work unless there is a setting I am missing. I don't think the bi amp setting is for this purpose.
any help would be great.
thanks

I have no clue what you described in how you have your system set-up currently but I looked at the YSP-900 on the Yamaha site...

If you have the PS3 running on component cables...the component connection runs directly to the TV, but this will carry no sound. You will also need to run a standard RCA connection to get audio from the TV speakers....

NOW, as for the YSP-900 it has two optical digital inputs on the rear. The easiest way to feed audio to the YSP-900, will be to use the optical output on the rear of your PS3 directly into the 900. This will be a clean and digital connection which will provide you with good sound quality..

Hi
My problem is that I have set up an A/V room so the ps3 and amp are not near the tv. Thus the rapid run cabling. My dvd video output is fine to all my tv's. Audio as I mentioned is just thru the speakers connected to the amp. I have a rca audio cable run from the soundbar back to the amp however there does not seem to be an analog audio output from the amp. None of the variations I tried work. Since the sound bar is an amp I figured the pre outs would be fine, nope. Sort of like connecting an external amp. the notes tell you if you make a connection to the pre out do not make the speaker connection. That's not going to work out. Hopefully I clarified things a bit so you might have some new ideas. thanks

Ok, thanks for the clarification on that...I see how you have it rigged now. So, I assume you are already using the optical out on the PS3 going into the AVR?? If that is the case, your pre-amp outs probably won't be the right thing as they will be outputing a processed signal that will be in Dolby Digital or DTS, and the right and left channels won't contain all the audio that you need in the sound-bar. The only other option is to try using a 'rec' rca out on the rear---not sure if they would be outputing a simple stereo signal. Also, another hope might be trying an optical out---if your AVR has that also....

Hope this offers you a few more ideas....hope you can work it out...
