PS3 optical out and sony STR-DG820 reciever

i am currently running audio to my sony STR-DG820 reciever via opical and i don't know which settings on the ps3 to select. not on the HDMI yet as i don't have an HDTV, i'm waiting to move back to the states before i buy one. the choices are below. please help me figure out what choices i am supposed to select, i already know a few. are the others compatable?

dolby digital 5.1 Ch. yes
DTS 5.1 Ch. yes
AAC ?
Linear PCM 2 Ch. 44.1 kHz yes
Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 kHz ?
Linear PCM 2 Ch. 176.4 kHz ?
Linear PCM 2 Ch. 48 kHz yes

any help would be appreciated.

Hi, and Welcome to Audioholics.

On the audio setup menu from your PS3, for the digital optical Out, you just Select "Bitstream". And:

DD = Yes.
DTS = Yes.
LPCM 2-ch. 44.1 khz = Yes.
LPCM 2-ch. 48 khz = Yes.
LPCM 2-ch. 88.2 khz = Yes.
LPCM 2-ch. 176.4 khz = No.*

* Your Sony STR-DG820 A/V receiver should be able to handle all these resolutions. But the higher numbers of resolution don't really matter from the digital Optical output. You can say Yes to all of them, and it would not matter.
