PS3 as Media Server

Any reason not to?

OK, that's really the threshold question, and perhaps the problem I'm having answers the question....buuuut let's assume you've got a 500GB Buffalo Tech network drive hooked up to the router and are using Media Monkey to convert thousands of hours of DAT-sourced bootlegs (mostly Dead and Phish :D) to 256 mp3s for storage in case anything happens to the CDs. Well, despite ID3-tagging everything meticulously, PS3's media server function apparently believes that tracks don't need to be displayed nor played in order of Disc#-then-Track#. This is obviously completely annoying because it prevents flipping to a show and listening to it in the order the songs in the show were played. Any ideas why this might be or suggestions of how to fix it?

and yes, being a snob regarding source mics, conversions and what-not, I do know that mp3s are not the "audioholic" choice, but keep in mind that this is really for storage purposes...it would just be a nice added bonus to have the PS3 serving the goods to the living room when I'm not in the computer/av room working with the source material.
