I am a new member, so I would welcome advice as to which is the most appropriate forum on which to post the following two highly arcane inquiries:
1) I have three non-equipment items which may be of interest to audiophile collectors. One is a copy of The Wood Effect, a 100-page booklet by R. C. Johnsen published in 1988, about polarity inversion; it is in very good condition with minimal wear and no marks, tears, folds, stains or loose pages. The second is a copy of the July/August 1988 issue (Vol 36, # 7/8) of the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society; there is moderate wear on the spine, but it is fully intact with no marks, tears, folds, stains or loose pages inside. The third is an instruction booklet, along with service manual, for the Fisher 500-T stereo receiver from 1967; both are in good condition, especially given their age. I presume only the book is saleable, but I would add the others as freebies. Does anyone have a suggestion as to the value of the book?
2) I am searching for a vintage print ad for Pickering Cartridges which was published more than once in High Fidelity in the mid-1960s (perhaps other journals too). It depicts ten famous composers gathered together, including Bach, Handel, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Wagner, Liszt, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, but with Beethoven at the front, holding an ear trumpet and asking WAS? The text heading beneath the drawing reads: "Nine out of ten musical people prefer the sound of Pickering," with Ludwig, of course, being in no condition to vouch for any sonic qualities. I have a sepia version published in the May 1965 issue, but I distinctly recall a full color version being printed in later issues. Can anyone direct me to a specific issue of HF or other periodicals where this can be found?
