Proof that you don't have to spend tons of money to get a good sound system.

I thought I would go and see for myself whether or not pawn shops have quality equipment.

I found the closest one to me (I live and work in downtown minneapolis), and it was is a sketchy neiboorhood. There were people loitering outside the shop, and you can't just walk in; they had to 'buzz' me into the store. anyway, I did not find what I was looking for, a decent reciever. But there was a Onkyo Integra 6-disc changer for $100.

So now I am going to go find a pawn shop in a rich neibohood.

I don't know about the pawn shops elsewhere, but the ones here in Columbus sell stolen goods. The one or two I've been in were horrible experiences. Both times, the two guys behind the counter reached for guns and never took their eyes off us. I'll pay a little extra to avoid our local pawn shops. That merchandise never cools down.

Thats another reason why I am going out to the suburbs to find pawn shops. Fewer problems with the people involved, and (I hope) nicer stuff.

Anytime you buy somthing used, there is the potential that it is stolen. I'm sure that a lot of stuff on ebay is stolen. But you just dont know it.

How do you like your Vandersteens , Ive never heard a pair , but ive seen them around years ago . Great looking speaker .
To me they sound great, and surprisingly it takes little to power them. They would sound a little better if they had more breathing room behind them, but I am at the mercy of my room layout.
