Hey all! I recently just got a Sony STR-DG500 receiver and a Synergy 12 sub and I don't have any real great satellites yet and I was wondering if the 4.1 ProMedia satellites would work (not the promedia sub)in that reciever in the + and - circle looking inputs? I really don't know much about audio so I'm really not sure what would happen or if it would work? Thanks!

No, buy real satellite speakers. You could very easily blow those ones.

As some I here whom respect have noted there are 1-way (plus the sub) logitechs PC speakers that blow away every HTIB they've ever heard. I used these 2-way-plus sub computer speakers for years, and also used the clone Quintet II sats as surrounds on my main system until I could afford better. They seriously blow away every home theater in a box that I've ever heard. Audiophile quality? Heck no, but for the dollars, and with a good sub they will get you started as surrounds, and when paired with a good sub make for a darrn fine starter bedroom system until you can afford better.

When you say + and - circle looking inputs I am assuming you mean the binding posts. Yes you can run wires from these posts to your speakers. Your speakers are 60 watt 4 ohm speakers. Your receiver is 100 watts 8 ohms. Not a good plan if you plan on keeping your speakers for a extended period of time. If this is a temporary thing and you plan on replacing the speakers in the long run, why the hell not.

So do you guys think it would be O.K. for me to do this for about 1-2 months since I'm purchasing the synergy series satellites when I get enough money? I'm guessing I should keep the volume not blasted and stuff like that right?
