Projector or Big Screen

I'm nutz I guess, seems like a lot of people would use a PJ even for 50" screens.
Who have you been hanging out with?

Anyone who choose FP for anything under 80" is relatively nuts. Anyone who chooses FP for less than 66" is an idiot, pure and simple.

Well I just moved my FP do my fiancee's place and it only gets 78" with the distance I have from the back to the front of the room.

I am relatively nuts now I guess:p

It's a very high quality picture though. I guess when your closer the resolution looks better.

Your room is exactly the same size as mine in every way. I went with a Sanyo PLVZ700 fp and a Dalite 106" screen. As far as I'm concerned, with that room size the 106" screen is perfect. My first row of seats are at 12', and the second row is about 3' behind the first row on a 10 inch riser. You won't regret getting a fp over the rp tv.

I might guess that if you had a more flexible PJ than a DLP, say a LCD/LCOS/DILA, then you would go bigger. Though I don't know how far you sit.

To a certain point.

That is a 35.6 degree viewing angle.

35.6 degree viewing angle. So? The set up works fine for me and anyone else who has watched movies in my ht.

Yeah I would. It's a bit smaller than it was at my apartment. Once I get a house I'll be able to get it ideal. But limitations are a part of life in apartment dwelling. Still it's a very good looking 78" tv lol. So I can't complain too much.

Considering my last tv was 27" I'm thankful for what I have.

Just stating a fact on everyone's behalf. For the sake of ease, if they wanted to mimic your immersion, for instance, but doing so with a 50" plasma instead.

35.6 degrees is just 0.4 shy of the THX recommendation (whether the middle, or back row, depending who you ask). This recommendation assumes 16:9 aspect ratio.

The set up works fine for me and anyone else who has watched movies in my ht.
I heard you the first time. What, you think by stating a fact I am somehow arguing that you cannot possibly enjoy your viewing angle? Gimme a break. If anything, your viewing angle is what I would recommend to most people as a starting point to find their personal preference.

Paranoid today are we?
