Has anyone here heard of Proflex HDMI cables? I just had my tv mounted and the installer kept touting these wires. I ended up buying them mainly because I felt bad for the guy. In any case, I know I've been ripped off, I'd just like to know what you think.

Never heard of them. Audioholics is an objectivist site. We do not believe any type of cable will make a difference in your system. If it is built to specification, just about any cable will do. Either the signal works or it doesn't.
HDMI is a rather complicated cable, so over a longgggg distance you may need to spend more money to make sure it can handle the signals being passed.
Installers and stores make good coin on cables because of the insane markup.
How much did you pay for the proflex?

I am a professional A/V integrator who also uses Proflex cables. Proflex cables are available through professional installers to set themselves aside from the mainstream retail stores by offering alternative cost effective cabling solutions.
They are excellent cables which adhere to all the HDMI lab specifications.

Unfortunately, Monster Cable (via big box retailers)has the general public brainwashed with their propaganda that they are the only manufacturer of quality cables- fancy colored jackets and names does not constitute a great cable - their cables are good, but highly over priced.
Another quality manufacturer that you may not have heard of is Key Digital, their Python & Black Bull series are also high quality cables available only through A/V installers.
Point being, be at ease, your cables are of good quality.

I use these cables so I can be more competitive in the A/V market. In most cases, these cables can be offered at less than half the price of Monster cables and produce the same results. Now,that is not to say that there are installers out there over-charging for their materials.
Basically I just wanted to address the fact that there are many high quality cable brands available to the professional installer that are unknown to the general consumer - and as it seems, to Audioholics as well. hope this helps.
