Double great links.
Thanks everyone, the Pioneer SC-05 seems the clear winner vs. the Denon 4306, especially as this will mainly be a home theater application. Sadly, I called 6th Ave. and they informed me that their "name your price" promotion is usually done only once or twice a year and is no longer in effect. And actually, the pioneers are only available at full retail price for them right now. Ah well, I'll just need to jump more quickly next time around. But thanks to everyone for the helpful, friendly advice. It's nice when a newbie to the forum can ask a question and not feel like he's a complete muppet. ;-)
Hi, and Welcome to the Club.
I just think that you might be wrong, I just check and their Price Alert is still ON. And you are absolutely wrong about the Pioneer Elite SC-05 and SC-07 being at full retail prices. WRONG, they are still heavily discounted.
And as you mentioned the Denon AVR-4306ci and Pioneer Elite SC series,
here's some German reviews with great internal pictures of the Denon AVR-4306ci and the Pioneer Elite SC-07 (SC-LX81, the UK model, from the AVR-Mastertest). And there are several pages too, so just click on the bottom left of each page, on the appropriate number in blue lettering.

* Pioneer Elite SC-07 (with Onkyo TX-NR906, Yamaha RX-V3900 and Sony STR-DA5400ES, from the AVR-Mastertest).

Enjoy,

If you call 6th ave they told me they are out of SC-05 but have some SC-07 for $920.
For home theater either one will be ok.
True. And I believe that the SC-05, as well the SC-07 are still available from other places at heavily discounted prices. Places like Audiogon and Videogon perhaps. Last time I check, the SC-07 was $899.99 at Videogon, but I think that the price just went up recently to $999.99
And the SC-05 was only $699.99 at Audiogon, but it was sold out just very recently.
And of course that they are great for not only Home Theater, but also for music.
Cheers,
Bob
