So does this mean that a Standard def video channel on a DVR sent to the receiver via HDMI will not be upconverted to 1080p at all? If so, isn't that a pretty basic feature of the high-end AVRs?

I'm a big fan of Class D amps, but feel they way overpriced right now. There are tons of great class d modules that sell for pretty low cost. Combined with a smaller power supply and fewer heat sinks due to efficiency, it makes no sense to me that class d costs more.

So, "GOV", you got and SC-05?

How do you like it? I'm thinking about getting the sc-07.

My dealer wanted $2400 for his SC-07 and wouldn't even plug it in so I could check it out...and it was sitting open right on his shelf.

For $899, yeah I'd have one right now.

Your dealer is certainly not a very nICE guy. ;)

Well Dave, for your information, you can get the SC-07 brand new right now for $899.
Interested?

You know how that works (you make an offer and they contact you to let you know if they accepted your offer), at 6th avenue.
You just click where it says "Price Alert" with the small yellow star on the bottom left. Then you make a price by writing it in the "Target Price" box, and your e-mail address, then click on "Submit", voila, the SC-07 will be soon yours for only $899, brand new.

* Also at Videogon, only a week ago or so, the SC-07 was $899.99
But it went up, it is $999.99 now.
Here's that link: http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?rcvr71ch&1249999099&2&3&4&

Go ahead, and spend some more money. It's a good deal after all, even if you don't need it!

"A Faroudja DCDi video processor provides the deinterlacing and scaling of analog inputs. Pioneer decided not to process any HDMI signals—instead, these signals are passed through the unit untouched. The composite, S-video, and component inputs can be transcoded to HDMI and output at resolutions up to 1080p/60, which means you only have to run one cable from the AVR to the display"

You're correct. My Yamaha RX-V1800 up converts HDMI signals to 1080p and its been replace by teh RX-V1900 which also does the same thing. Strange that the Pioneer does not do this.

Waiting on my INtegra to get back... Now; as a back up; I am deciding btwn the SC07 or the 3808ci... I do not want to spend a ton of $ and refuse to buy Onkyo/Integra....

I thought that you already made a move on the SC-07?

The Denon AVR-3808ci is a nice receiver too, but it's video processor is not better than the Pioneer Elite SC-07. Both of these receivers are not about their video processors, for sure.

But yourself coming from an Integra DTC-9.8 with Audyssey MultEQ XT, perhaps you stil like to stay with it, with the AVR-3808ci?
Plus with the Denon, you got a choice of the Audyssey "Flat curve" and also the Audyssey "Front Left & Right" curve. And you got a very cool GUI too.
It's a tough call, there both great units.
The SC-07 give you a nice second HDMI output, which the Denon does not.
The SC-07 is THX Ultra2 Plus, which the Denon is not THX at all.

At the end, it's all about feature's preference. Only you can make that choice.

Just what I do or don't need, a thread highlighting the recently reduced price of the SC-05 receivers.

I have a Marantz 7300OSE that has been and still sounds great, though it doesn't quite sound as rich in source direct 2 channel stereo as my Marantz sr 8000.

I'm unable to listen to an Elite Sc-05 or 07 at the present time, will the sound quality equal or surpass the Marantz? I thought my next upgrade would be an sr 8002 though Pioneer has more features is it at the expense of the musical side?
