I've inherited this great Pioneer VSX-527 reciever and Toshiba 32EL933N TV that I know works perfectly together - it did before I inherited it.
However, I can't get any sound from the TV through the reciever for some reason..
The sound system itself works properly as I can hear the testssounds from the setup program in the speakers.

The reciever is connected to my TV via HDMI that goes into the HDMI OUT slot on the reciever.
Audio is connected through analog cables red/white that goes from the analog R/L slots on the TV into the analog R/L IN on the reciever. *note that I've assigned the analog slots on the reciever to TV instead of CD.

The TV has this REGZA-connection function that makes the reciever turn on automaticly when the TV is on, and lets me control basic functions via the TV-remote. Everything seems to be working fine in that regard - exept theres no sound o_O
I've been through every option, I think. I know the setup worked with another TV that I had, and I know that it worked with this Toshiba TV before I inherited it.

I'm lost here, any ideas?
Kind regards :)

Okay, thank you :)
Where should that cable go on the reciever then?

Receiver has a digital optical input port and so a standard optical toslink audio cable will work. Also the AVR supports ARC feature which puts this same digital audio signal down the hdmi port in the oposite direction to the video sending. If your tv has a hdmi port labeled ARC then you can do it without needing the extra cable. But it requires extra setup steps in both the tv and AVR.

The reciever has an optical input port but the tv doesnt. The tv has a digital audio port.
If I'm going to use the digital input then I'll need a converter.
Also I don't see anything about ARC in the TV manual, so I don't think it can do that.

Your TV doesnt have ARC.

Use toslink cable from your TV Digital Audio Out, might be marked as Digital or Digital Audio to yor AVR optical input.

Well I guess that solves my problem then (hopefully).
Thank you so much for helping me out! :D

Also note that you probably don't need a new digital audio coaxial rca cable for this. There are cables specially designed for this purpose but in reality nearly any rca to rca cable like the one you were using on the analog ports will work just fine. You can get a dedicated cable of perfect length later to keep it looking good and tidy if you want.

Sources are routed through the avr, then from there to the TV. Make sure the avr is set to process the audio and not pass thru to the TV. Also since you inherited it factory reset it and start fresh
