Problem with Yamaha RX-V992

I know it's a long shot that anyone has heard, and has a fix for this problem, but I thought I would give it a shot.

I have had this receiver from brand new, at some point it started developing a problem that only happens when the amp is turned on from cold, and only over the digital inputs.

When I first turn the amp on, a digital beeping/clicking comes over the speakers IF there is something hooked up to the digital input. It seems worse when my HTPC is hooked up, but it also happens on just my DVD player. It starts out at a very fast rate, then starts decreasing in speed as the amp warms up, then after a minute or so, it's perfectly usable.

Anyone ever heard of anything like this? It is very temperature dependent, in summer the beeping starts out slower, and disappears much sooner, in winter it starts much faster, and takes longer to disappear.

This is the ONLY problem with this amp I am having, otherwise it has been great, and the analog section has never had any issues. I will be replacing it at some point, because it doesn't understand HDMI, but I still want to use it elsewhere. Would be nice if I could get it fixed easily/simply/cheaply..

That is a classic symptom of a solid state component fault. The unit will eventually fail. Take it for service. I have no idea of cost.

sounds like a problem with the digital clocking or oscillator circuit. Its either going bad or you have a bad solder joint. The 992 was a good receiver. I had it for a time but it lacks DTS and the latest surround formats. It may be time for an upgrade and sending the 992 into another room for 2CH audio or multi zone.
